My Job
I apply my 20+ years of European level advocacy, campaigning and communications experience in patients and public health organisations to support the Weber Shandwick healthcare team’s work for its clients. I am motivated by the talent and energy of the impressive team of consultants, as well as by the variety of challenges the team supports clients in unpacking, navigating, and solving.
My Experience
In the past 23 years, I developed first a passion for Europe while working in the EU accession negotiations team in Romania, then I built my experience, knowledge and passion for European healthcare policy working in Brussels as a consultant, then leading European public health and patients’ organisations.
My Specialisms
My Proudest Achievements
Developing an ability to nurture pan-European coalitions and advocacy campaigns to bring important perspectives into the policy debate. My first such coalition was built around a handful of passionate advocates and supported by dozens of public health organisations fighting for a strong Tobacco Products Directive in 2014. Most recently, my role in the European Patients Forum helped empower a strong, talented advocacy team to build a patient community perspective and build it into all meaningful healthcare policy files in recent years.
My Education
- BA in Political Science, University of Bucharest, Romania
- MA in European Politics and Administration, College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium
My Languages
English, French, Romanian.
My Interests outside work
I put a lot of time – and absorb the joy of my life from it! – in my role as a parent and stepparent to our teenage daughters. I enjoy discovering hikes with my dog, visiting art galleries with my partner, and in quiet evenings I’ll be found crocheting a blanket, bag, or amigurumi.
My Favourite Brussels anecdote
Expat Brussels is filled with people who came in just for a couple of years and find themselves still here, with solid roots, and (sometimes grudgingly) loving it decades later. To enhance happiness, one must step out of the bubble and enjoy the local life: from art-deco festivals and walks to niche stage life, from diverse and exquisite art and history to cracking comedy and the Belgian-perfected art of not taking oneself too seriously.
