My Job
I am supporting clients in the apparel, textile and fashion industry in understanding and navigating EU policy making and setting them up for success when engaging with a wide set of stakeholders in Brussels, as well as preparing for upcoming legislation in the field of sustainability and circular economy. I lead a small team of consultants overseeing Ohana Public Affairs’ client work on circular economy policies including eco-design, waste and end of life policies, as well as chemical legislation.
My Experience
For a decade, my career has mostly been shaped and driven by EU policy making in the areas of climate, environment and circular economy policy. In some form or another, policy advocacy and public affairs engagement calling for stronger or more effective EU policies, have been and are my daily work. I am driven by work that has a positive impact on society and the environment – and therefore I am also committed to work for organisations and companies that have a positive value proposition as their overall vision and mission.
I started off my career with working on the green transition of heavy industries like steel and cement. A few years later, I made the shift to work on sustainability policy for the textile and fashion industry.
I have experience from working in various settings in both environmental NGOs and philanthropic initiatives and today in consultancy working with the private sector, trade associations and other global industry initiatives.
My Specialisms
My Proudest Achievements
During recent years, it has been truly exciting to be part of the early beginnings of the EU’s development of sustainability and circularity regulation for the textile industry.
As the textile industry until recently has been a largely unregulated industry, moving the industry to a regulated sector when it comes to sustainability is, and will continue to be, a massive change in the day-to-day business operations of the sector and its supply chains.
Realising effective sustainability legislation is long overdue and hugely important to address the environmental impacts of the sector. This brings new challenges for businesses, but also offers plenty of opportunities for sustainable companies and business models. I am proud to help prepare the industry for EU sustainability regulation, and to make their voice heard in Brussels.
My Education
I hold a Master of Science in Globalization, Politics and Culture from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology covering subjects such as green supply chain management and green value creation, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies from Maastricht University.
My Languages
Norwegian native, English native-equivalent, and fluent spoken German and Dutch.
My Interests outside work
Since I can remember I have been sewing clothes: as a child first for my dolls, then later for myself. Today, my passion is to remake second-hand clothes and give them a new life. In addition, I explore the world and spend as much time as possible with my partner and young daughter.
My Favourite Brussels anecdote
Living in Brussels has many great advantages, but one of them is how networking can open so many new doors and inspire new ideas: A perfect example of this was when I was introduced to my current manager who at the time was still running Ohana Public Affairs as a one-woman show.
To this day, I am grateful and amused how one lunch with an inspiring stranger can lead to a complete career change, joining a tiny company and developing it into a well-established boutique consultancy with a diverse portfolio of clients.
