My Job

I am a Managing Director at FTI Consulting’s Financial Services practice in Brussels. I help clients influence EU legislative processes, whether that means driving a positive business outcome or getting ahead of something that could hurt the bottom line. A big part of what I do is also helping clients understand how EU policymaking actually works: the institutions, the timelines, the politics, and where the real opportunities to engage are. My areas of focus include market structure, digital finance, payments, geopolitics, and sanctions.

My Experience

I have been working in Brussels for over a decade, most of it in consulting and financial services policy. I also spent time in-house at a global financial infrastructure company based here in Belgium, where I led EU public affairs and had the chance to work closely with the CEO as Chief of Staff. That experience was formative. It brought me much closer to what actually matters for businesses, and how to translate regulatory and legislative risk into language that resonates with a business audience. Back in consulting, I find that combination of inside and outside perspectives makes me a better adviser. I understand the institutional dynamics of Brussels, but I also understand the pressures and priorities that sit on the other side of the table.

My Proudest Achievements

None of my proudest moments were a one-woman job. I believe teamwork makes the dreamwork. The moments that stand out most are when we have helped a client achieve a tangible policy outcome: getting something inserted or changed in a legislative text. There is something deeply satisfying about seeing your work reflected in the Official Journal. What is often invisible is how long that can take. Sometimes it is years of building trusted relationships, developing evidence-based messaging, and commissioning the studies that underpin your objectives. Patience is as much a virtue in this job as anywhere else in life, but the hard work tends to pay off.

My Education

  • BA European Studies, University of Gothenburg

My Languages

English, Swedish and French when needed.

My Interests outside work

Good food, both cooking it and eating it, ideally with a good glass of wine alongside. Travel is a big part of that too. A trip is not complete without a solid plan for what and where to eat and drink.

I also get a lot of energy from the people around me. Time with good friends and family is non-negotiable, and I am lucky to have exceptional people in my life here in Brussels and beyond.

I would also read more if time allowed. I love it and am always open to a good book recommendation (hit me up!).

My Favourite Brussels anecdote

We once got hold of a legislative proposal before it was published. That is not unusual in this world, but in this particular case the 500-page document arrived in hardcopy. It took a while to scan.
